Presented by the ARIZONA CENTER FOR DRUG DISCOVERY at the UNIVERITY OF ARIZONA COLLEGE OF PHARMACY and the UA CANCER CENTER

The Discovering New Medicines in Arizona Summit will highlight key areas of research in discovering effective drug candidates in prevalent diseases in Arizona while establishing collaborations that enable success in these areas.

The one-day summit, held prior to the 2019 AZBIO AWARDS, will cover:

  • “Diseases of Aging in Neurosciences,” presented by ROBERTA BRINTON, PHD, Director, UA Center for Innovation in Brain Science
  • “Drug Development in Cancer Prevention and Treatment: E Pluribus Unum,” presented by JULIE BAUMAN, MD, MPH, Deputy Director, UA Cancer Center and Chief, Division of Hematology & Oncology, UA College of Medicine – Tucson
  • “Pain: Chronic Treatments to Replace Opioids,” presented by TODD VANDERAH, PHD, Chair, Department of Pharmacology, UA College of Medicine – Tucson
  • “Lung Diseases,” presented by MONICA KRAFT, MD, Chair, Department of Medicine, UA College of Medicine – Tucson, and Deputy Director, UA Health Sciences Asthma & Airway Disease Research Center
  • “Diabetes and Metabolic Syndrome,” presented by LAWRENCE MANDARINO, PHD, Chief, Division of Endocrinology, UA College of Medicine – Tucson, and Director, UAHS Center for Disparities in Diabetes, Obesity & Metabolism
