About the Research:
The Zavros lab studies the mechanisms that drive gastric epithelial regeneration and Helicobacter pylori-induced disease using a novel in vitro organoid system. The research team also has developed patient-derived gastric and pancreatic cancer organoids from resected tumors that are co-cultured with autologous immune cells. These cancer organoid/immune cell co-cultures are used in personalized drug screens to predict individual therapy response and study the interaction between the cancer cell and the patient immune microenvironment.
